Lifestyle of Learning 2016 Edition: Volume Two

February 6-February 13

Saturday:  Maceo had quite the active day; about five hours of "physical education" in all.  In the morning he went to Skyzone, the trampoline place, where he spent one very active, very crazy fun hour with friends.  In the evening he spent two and a half hours at the ice skating rink.  His girlfriend talked him into it, it is something he never would have done otherwise.  It was his first time ice skating and he says he only fell twice.  After the ice skating rink closed he went bowling for a couple of hours.  He said he was lousy at it but had a good time nonetheless.  Bishop has been busy reading some books that he downloaded onto his ipod.  They are an advanced sort of 'choose your own adventure' book.  He has read two and has now downloaded a third.

Sunday:  Maceo had three and a half hours of Aladdin Jr. rehearsal.
Bishop helped me prepare for our Super Bowl gathering.
Regarding the Super Bowl, there was football elation and football heartache.  Bishop's favorite team is the Broncos and they won.  Maceo's favorite team is the Panthers and, well, they lost.  I was so proud of my boys as they took advantage of this opportunity to exercise gracious winning and losing,  A tough but valuable lesson.

Monday:  Bishop began a really cool adventure today.  A friend of ours who is a baker and caterer has agreed to grant Bishop an internship.  On this, his first day, he worked five hours helping her cater an event for the board of realtors.  He helped with some last minute preparations, delivery of the food, set up of the buffet, final assembly of the food, and the refilling of platters throughout the day.

Pardon the weirdness.  I really don't know what that is all about.
Bishop attended scouts where they worked on first aid (i.e. symptoms and treatment of hypothermia, frost bite, etc.).  While there he was "paid" for his internship in the form of a case of Monster.

More weirdness!!! (What!?!)
Maceo had 4 hours and 15 minutes of Aladdin Jr. rehearsal.

Tuesday:  Maceo had four more hours of rehearsal.  While Bishop went to a local high schools band concert (2 1/2 hours).  We saw a jazz band, orchestra and symphony.  He loved it!!!

Wednesday:  Bishop attended science group where we wrapped up our exploration of the cardiovascular system by dissecting sheep's hearts and examining a sheep's pluck.

Bishop also attended history group where three of his peers presented information of famous revolutionary war figures.  We then made quill pens and the kiddos worked on writing parts of the Declaration of Independence and quotes from Poor Richard's Almanac.

Maceo had a 5 hour and 15 minute rehearsal that included  a trial run of his makeup.

What do you think?  Villainous???

Thursday:  Mostly we had a quiet day working on the house and preparing for next week which will be very busy as Maceo's show opens while Bishop and I head to D.C.  Maceo did have rehearsal (4 hours, 30 minutes).

Friday:  Bishop had a 2 hour and 20 minute pottery lesson.  He is making really cool lidded pots now.  I love it!!!

In the evening Maceo went to a school loyalty dance.
Here he is heading out, isn't he handsome?

And here he is with his friends before heading to the dance.
A fun group all the way around!!!

In the meantime Bishop went to a friend's birthday party where he played extreme hide and seek at a local park, in the dark.

Saturday:  Bishop watched the 1998 movie Elizabeth.
Maceo hung out with friends and then went to view a community theatre's production of  "Hands on a Hardbody"

It's been a satisfying week!
