Lifestyle of Learning 2017 Edition: Volume Forty-Six

December 10 - 31

The computer went down and the holiday season took off making it difficult for me to keep up with my posts.  Here is a post three weeks in the making.

Maceo and I went to a special church service at his girlfriend's church in a rural area about an hour away from us.

Then we tried a new (to us) restaurant, Fat Daddy's.

Maceo viewed "It's a Wonderful Life: A Live Radio Play" at a local college.
Maceo had MANY hours of Titus Andronicus rehearsals.

In science group we reviewed animal cells and introduced plant cells.  Bishop made a model of an animal cell in the form of a pizza and a plant cell in the form of a cookie - LUNCH!

Bishop had pottery lessons twice creating several very nice moon jars.  I sure wish that I had taken photos.  That I will do after Christmas break!
Bishop's scout troop had a Christmas bowling party.  It was full of shenanigans!
Bishop began with a bit of photography.

Then the troop consumed some pizza and sweet treats.
And then they went about the serious business of bowling.
There was first very serious consideration of the names that each would bowl under.

Then the equally serious business of bowling...

...and winning.

We had a day FULL of Star Wars consisting of a Star Wars themed breakfast, watching the movie with friends then HOURS of discussion.

Bishop and his friends had a get together that involved the giving of white elephant gifts.  Bishop gave his friend a child's helmet and long fluorescent bulbs (don't ask).  It proved to be an interesting gift as they learned that they would light up while they were holding the ends and running with them.  The science of it was heavily debated, creating many theories and was then researched and theories discarded or confirmed.
Bishop and his friends played Settlers of Catan and D&D.
Maceo is studying philosophy and psychology using Crash Course and free online lectures offered by Yale. (philosophy of death course)
Bishop listend to a lot of podcasts.
Bishop worked LOTS at his culinary internship.

We recognized the Winter Solstice.
And we played lots of games.

We went to Nakato's for a New Year's Eve meal with family and friends.

This is what happens when they see that the camera is pointed in their direction.
Then we went to a friends house to play some games and bring in the new year.

There was so much more that we have done as we are always learning.
And there was much merry making throughout this time period as well.
And, so, another year comes to a close.  A new calendar year is upon us and is full of many grand adventures, I am certain!!!
